The other week the lovely people at Nix and Kix sent me some samples of their lovely product. A no nonsense, nothing added, natural energy drink. The drinks were in 2 flavours but both containing the natural body booster that we all know as cayenne pepper. Now I don’t know about you all, but I for one have dabbled in making my own drinks with turmeric and cayenne in them. Some have been better than others, so I have to say I opened the first bottle with an air of trepidation.

To my surprise the drink gave a subtle hint of cayenne rather than smacking you straight in the chops so to speak. This is a particularly pleasant version of a drink that boasts a boosting property.

I try to stay away from added sugars and preservatives as I know a lot of you do as well, so pre…

I loved it, great place

This post is different to any other I have ever written, not because it’s a self-confession or a plea, but because there is a large part of me that actually doesn’t want anyone to read it. I know this will sound quite contrary, however, let me explain what I mean.

If you had experienced a 6 months like I just have, whereby every 2 weeks saw you at a hospital visit being probed, questioned, poked or measured, so much so that you practically had your own designated parking space and all the coffee shop staff not only now know your first name but also how you take your coffee (black with an extra shot!). Being told therefore, that you have a 3 month break before your next procedure, and that you will then have no chance of getting away after that as you will need the next part of the…

Holiday snaps, equipment and breaking point 📷

I’ve gone light this year to Turkey with only Nixon D3200 with 50mm prime lens (street photographer lens) and my converted (and the reason I tell myself to stop a purchase of a compact camera) charity iPhone 5.

I can’t show you the pictures from the Nixon till I get home but to follow are iPhone pictures to show that having another means of capturing a moment, place or thing is not a bad thing.  The Nixon was starting to get on my nerves as I was manualling (is that a word?) all day and the brightness plus the colour richness of Turkey was getting the better of my skills. iPhone to the rescue of both the Nixon and my sanity. I captured some great images quickly and easily but still applying thought on my part of composition and story. Here endth the lesson from my experience and head.

Keep capturing keep enjoying yourself!

Holiday shooting

Obsessing over the perfect photograph is time wasting and a passion killer.  With help from historic photographers (Henri Cartier-Bresson being my main voice of reason) to argue with the OCD camera hugger in my head, I’m free to feel the moment.

His book “The minds eye” is my handbook and fits nicely in my brown canvas bag, which is getting some great use while I’m on holiday in Turkey.

These pictures are of my wife and fellow blogger medicinal kitchen (www.medicinalkitchen.wordpress.com) relaxing and coming down from a very stressful year working and surviving. And myself, doing the same but using the time to take pictures and blog my thoughts.

These pictures are from my iPhone (compact camera of choice at the moment) but my Nixon DSLR is getting some attention too.

Read the books and take the pictures people. ENJOY THE MOMENTS.
